The hotel was perfectly suitable for the purpose of my trip.
The wing of the hotel that room 306 was located did suffer quite a lot of traffic noise, day and night.

Friendly service from Khanyisile in the restaurant at dinner. Conveniently located for the purpose we required to stay.
The area is a bit creepy. The guard house and the way it is secured does not give one a sense of safety. Generally did not feel safe in the area.

I spent only one night. I did like the room which was well cleaned. Got Internet access. The breakfast was also good.
The issue of shuttle was a bit confusing and in fact was too expensive for hotel clients. I booked through Internet and I did complain about the shuttle because I was charged for that. I thought It was part of the facilities, but at the end, that was not the case...I tried to cancel my booking but It was late and I could not do it. I was very angry about the shuttle charge (ZAR 400)...too much!!

The Protea Hotel exceeded my expectations with its excellent milieu - both inside and outside. The staff was phenomenal - always helpful and friendly. The rooms were spotless and the daily cleaning service was great. The location was convenient and secure - giving us peace of mind as foreign visitors. The breakfast - especially the freshly prepared omelette - was delicious.
Would definitely recommend.

Upgraded to Executive room at the same rates which was nice !!
One thing I did not like I was told at the reception that the hotel has not received any communication from Booked.net but they could find me a room anyways.

This hotel offers great value for money, with reasonable prices for delicious food. Just like in one of the reviews, I had a snack platter for one with chicken wings, ribs, potato wedges, and tasty vegetable wraps, all for a very reasonable cost. The food was fantastic, and I found the prices to be a steal. Additionally, the ambience of the hotel was relaxed and not crowded, allowing for a pleasant dining experience.
No major issues, all was satisfactory.

Location is very convenient. Price is fair. Rooms are neat.
Breakfast is charged separately and is very expensive, this should be part of the package as is in many hotels. No Mini bar. Drinking water provided once only, this should be daily.

We had a wonderful stay at this luxurious 4-star hotel. The location in a safe and good area was perfect for our needs. The hotel staff provided us with excellent service, ensuring that we felt welcomed and taken care of throughout our stay. The room was spacious and well-appointed, featuring amenities such as air conditioning, a mini-bar, and a comfortable sitting area. We also enjoyed the terrace, where we could relax and take in the pleasant courtyard garden. Additionally, the hotel offered a wide range of services, including room service, car hire, and laundry.
We recommend this hotel to families for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The reception and outdoor patio and restaurant were beauitifully laid out with the garden/pool area a little oasis in the otherwise drab Midrand area.
The people in the room across from ours smoked with their door open, which affected us (sorted out). I was totally ripped off by a breakfastin the bar lounge area (R24 for an americano coffee and R40.00!!! for a bran muffin) This was outrageous and I was left with a seriously sour taste after that!! (normally pay R13-R18 for coffee and R12-R20 for a muffin with cheese and jam at excellent restaurants/coffee shops).
Tourists from India often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
